Dear AMICA Friends,
It is my pleasure to invite you to attend "Music a Mile High" - the first ever AMICA convention to be held in Denver, Colorado, the Mile High City. We have a spectacular lineup of exciting musical events planned. Combined with our beautiful scenery and Western hospitality, your convention experience will be unforgettable.
Our host hotel, The Holiday Inn Denver Downtown, is within easy walking distance of dozens of museums, restaurants, shops, activities and attractions. Guided walking tours will be available, or explore on your own.
The Hospitality Room at the Holiday Inn will feature six of the world's great reproducing piano systems, including a rare and incomparable 9'6" Steinway Duo-Art Concert Grand. Art Reblitz, author of the piano industry's standard reference books as well as The Golden Age of Automatic Musical Instruments will open his shop for us in Colorado Springs. You will have the opportunity to ride an authentic narrow gauge steam train in the on the Georgetown Loop. The Rocky Mountains in August are second to none in the world and we beckon you to behold them for yourself.
You will experience a private AMICA evening of entertainment at the Four Mile House - Denver's oldest residence and a Colorado State Historical Site. This was the last stop for the wagon trains and stagecoaches coming into Denver with pioneers seeking their fortunes in gold and silver.
Workshops - some new and different! A Mart, bursting at the seams with goodies. A farewell banquet and dancing to music by Denver's premiere traditional Jazz Band - 38 stories above Denver - overlooking the city, the front range and the Continental Divide from Pikes Peak to Cheyenne. On Sunday afternoon, you'll attend a piano and pipe organ concert at the beautifully restored Paramount Theatre, which features a rare twin console WurliTzer organ.
All these things and more await you in Colorado. You are the key to making this convention the biggest success in AMICA history. Come early and stay late. We look forward to having you.
Sincerely,
Jere DeBacker, Convention Chair
